Dentures in Dubbo
Dentures are one of the most efficient and affordable ways to replace missing teeth. This is especially the case for people who may not qualify for dental implant treatment or fixed bridges. These removable appliances are perfect for someone who is missing all or most of their teeth and needs to quickly restore their smile.

Types of Dentures
There are two main types of dentures: metallic and non-metallic. Both serve different purposes, depending on what your smile needs are.
- Most full dentures are non-metallic and made out of an acrylic ‘plate’ with replacement teeth fused to it. They rest against the roof of your mouth and gum tissues, creating a seal to hold them in place. A full denture restores all the teeth in your arch at one time.
- Partial dentures usually have a metallic base. They are only used if you have several remaining teeth that you do not want to extract. The partial fills in your missing teeth and attaches to the adjacent teeth with small clasps.
How to Care for Dentures
Dentures are removable prosthetics that need to be taken out at night and cleaned regularly. If you have any sore areas or ‘high spots’ that are rubbing, bring your denture in to have it adjusted. We recommend six-monthly checkups, even if you’re missing all your teeth.
Are Dentures Right for Me?
Most people choose dentures when they want an economical alternative to dental implants. Since these removable prosthetics can take a bit of extra time to get used to, you’ll want to understand the transition process before having any teeth removed. Our dentists will meet with you to discuss the pros and cons, as well as what alternatives might be available.
